What Does Predominance Of Coccobacilli In The Pap Smear Report Suggest?
Hi, i just received my paptest result and it says Benign cellular changes, predominance of coccobacilli consistent in shift with vaginal flora. Inflammation includes atypical repair. And theres a comment that it is severe inflammation and abundant of neutrophils. What does this mean?
Hello, thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. Pap smear test is done for screening of cervical neoplasms. Your report suggests infection ie inflammation with neutrophils, normally there are lactobacilli as normal flora in pap smear. Cocco bacilli suggest an infective form of bacteria other than the normal commensal bacteria. You would need to take a course of antibiotics for this infection to clear up. It is pelvic inflammatory disease. Otherwise your test is negative for any malignancy related changes, only infection is there. Thanks.
