What Does Presence Of A Mass On A Sonography Report Indicate?

Hello, I have just been put on a medication called Levothyroxine. Ihad a sonogram that showed I have a mass 7centimeters. I have had three series of blood tests, and now prescribed another medication. A biopsy has been discussed. I have no pain, no visiable lumps, just slight cough. Noting has been said as to what it may be.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Mass of 7 cm is there in the thyroid gland right? But in the next line, you mentioned that there was no lump. Is the lump in thyroid gland or somewhere else?

Whereever may be the lump, biopsy either incisional or excision should be done to rule out malignancy.

Even tuberculosis also most of the times presents as lump only, simple biopsy is mandatory for definitive diagnosis and good management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
