Thank you - I m a 63 yr old male in relatively good shape - 168 lb, 5 10, go to the gym 3-4 times a week but don t overdo. About six months ago I had a very small amount of blood in the urine going to the bathroom. Recently experienced again. Wondering what this may indicate regarding symptoms of problems - please advise again thank you
There are different possible causes of blood in the urine. In some persons it may not be due to a significant cause but these would need to be ruled out.
Some of the more common causes are: (1) infection- there would usually be additional symptoms such as frequency, abdominal pain, fever etc (2)stones (3)enlarged prostate- this is usually due to benign (non cancerous) enlargement but cancer can also be a cause (4)mass in the urinary tract (5)bleeding disorder (6)side effect of medication such as aspirin or clotting meds (7)kidney disease
Physical examination as well as assessment of the urine would be needed.
Blood tests may also be needed as well.
I hope this helps
