What Does Presence Of Fluid In Pelvic Area Post Cancer Treatment Indicate?

I was diagnosed with stage 3C Ovarian cancer in August 2016 Had surgery and completed 18 rounds of Chemo with Taxol every treatment and Carboplatin every three treatments. I had a CT scan two weeks after the last Chemo and it showed fluid in the pelvis. I m concerned because that s how the whole thing started. My Gynocologic Oncological surgeon and my oncologist are not concerned. My CA125 was 484 before surgery and now it s 4. In remission, but the fluid in the pelvis and a nodule on the right lower lobe which they said is stable worries me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Fluid in pelvis shows inflammation that is caused even by cancer. It often causes pain.

There is a probability of fluid being there since long ago when you were first diagnosed. It is with no concern since your oncologist says so.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
