What Does Presence Of Pus Cells And Blood In Urine Indicate?

I self cathetarise 6 times a day for interstisal cystisis with residuals of up to 600ml, my urine from yesterday showed pus cells and visible blood and have been sent to the lab. I have abdominal and back pain as well as the stabbing cystisis. Temp 38 and nausea. I can feel the bladder neck cramping, would you recommend that I stop cathetarising until I get the results from the lab or should I increase the frequency?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You can continue catheterizing as usual. However, if the urine culture shows an infection, then antibiotics need to beinitiated immediately. Meanwhile, take Tylenol for pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
