What Does Presence Of White Spots In Mouth Of An Infant Indicate?
Hi. My name is Jessica and I have a 6 month old who has been acting very fussy lately and I noticed some white spots in her mouth. But couldn't get the chance to see if I could wipe them away. She just hasn't been her happy self lately and I'm worried about her. Could it be thrush or should I take her into the hospital and get a proper diagnose because I do not want to have it be too late on treatment if it is thrush. I just don't know what to do.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms white spots inside mouth in an infant can be most commonly due to fungal infection known as Oral Thrush and it is commonly seen in infants as they have an immature immune system or in case if antibiotics are being given for some infection.. It should be evaluated by a Pedodontist and if Thrush is confirmed Oral antifungal drops can be advised that can be instilled in mouth for resolution of infection..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
