Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Pressure In The Chest After Eating Food Indicate?
When I eat it feels like the food stops going to my stomach and stops between my breasts. I rub it to make myself burp to relieve the pressure. I don t know why but then I usually sneeze 2 or 3 times. I have not been able to eat very much at one time. I am also extremely tired all the time and feel weak. My name is Dorothea: YYYY@YYYY
Your symptom of pressure in the chest after eating can be due to these probable reasons: 1) Gastric ulcers 2) Esophageal webs 3) Esophageal tumors 4) Psychological 5) Gastroesophageal reflux disease 6) Hiatus hernia 7) Stomach tumors 8) Thyroid and other neck swellings
The following are recommended by me to those who visit me with these symptoms. Complete blood picture to rule out anemia. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy that can reveal any abnormalities in esophagus and stomach. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. Please consult a gastroenterologist for detailed examination and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
