Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking 150mg ranitidine tablets 2x day for 2 weeks for GERD, which I have an ongoing problem with. Before I have been prescribed Prilosec, but didn t want to take it again because of the association with dementia. The past two linings I have awakened early in the morning with chest pressure. I have felt it off and on all day. It is very high up on my chest just below my clavicles. No pain, just pressure with some burning. Should I be worried?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As you are suffering from GERD, you should add Tab. Domperidone. As it is prescription drugs please contact your local doctor he will prescribe this.
Avoid tight clothes, large meals, fast fried foods. Do not lay on bed immediately after taking meals. Raise your head towards the end of bed by one block or 25 cm. You will get relief soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
