What Does Pressure In The Ears Indicate?

Sometimes I feel a pulsating pressure in my ear. If you ve ever driven in a car and had just one window open just a crack, the pressure that is felt is what I ve been experiencing; but I m not in a car. It s not all the time but it seems to pulsate rhythmically, I think along with my heartbeat. Any thoughts?

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of pressure in the ears which seems to be due to ear wax build up, fluid accumulation and eustachian tube dysfunction.

I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and you should do valsalva maneuvers. You should take steam inhalation twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
