What Does Pressure On The Left Side Of The Chest Indicate?

I am a 46 year old female, small frame no diabetes. My echo test came back normal and have a stress test scheduled. I’ve been having tightness in the left side of my chest for months now. I also get short of breath and fatigue. Could I still have heart problems even with normal test ?

Hello,

Yes, you could still have heart problems even with a normal echo. An echo shows abnormalities once the heart muscle is already affected.

Do you smoke or consume alcohol? Do you have any other medical issues or take any medications? Do you have any family history of heart disease?

I recommend you:
- An electrocardiogram
- A stress test
- An angiogram of the heart's circulation
- Blood tests (lipid profile, complete blood count, thyroid function tests, liver and kidney function tests)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
