What Does Pressure On The Left Side Of The Face Indicate?

I have the following symptoms on the left side of my face - internal pressure, no outward signs of swelling (normal CT scan of sinuses last week), dental pain (lower and upper) but can drink hot and cold, brush teeth, just cannot eat on that side due to pain, sometimes sharp (recent script for antibiotics and steroids have lessened the pain somewhat) but can shut mouth and tap teeth with no pain at all, mild earache, clear drainage, no fever. I have an appointment with the ENT on Monday; but am concerned that this will worsen with the end of the antibiotic last Saturday and the steroid tomorrow.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query, symptoms of pressure on the left side of the face seems to be due to nerve entrapment, weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face and it could be due to facial nerve dysfunction. Excessive stress and anxiety aggravate condition.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult oral physician once and go for proper examination and diagnosis. Doctor may conduct various test to confirm the diagnosis and may prescribe muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory medicines.

You should take proper rest and try to reduce your stress level. Do massage and therapy of facial muscles. Keep yourself hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
