What Does Pressure Sensation In The Left Eye Area Indicate?

my husband has been experiencing a feeling of pressure in his left eye...in the eye lid area, top and bottom. There is no pain or impact to his vision, but the pressure sensation is getting worse and bothersome. Is this something he should see his primary care physician for or an ophthalmologist? He has had this in the past and his primary care physician said it was stress or dehydration.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The most common causes of pressure sensation in the eyes are migraines and other headaches or sinus infection.

I recommend you to do a complete blood count and a sinuses X-ray to exclude the possibility of a sinus infection.

Meanwhile, he can use anti-inflammatory medication for the pressure such as Tylenol three tablets a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
