What Does "Several Fine Septations Are Noted Within The Fundus Of The Uterus" Mean?
i recently went through a Hsg test and my report says "
Verbal informed consent. Aseptic technique. Contrast was seen to fill the uterus and both fallopian tubes and spill into the peritoneal cavity. The fallopian tubes are therefore patent.
Several fine septations are noted within the fundus of the uterus, which has a slightly irregular contour. I note the history of Asherman's syndrome" what does it mean?
Asherman syndrome is a rare condition. In most cases, it occurs in women who have had several dilatation and curettage (D&C) procedures. This leads to adhesions within the uterus and is seen as septations on HSG. A severe pelvic infection unrelated to surgery may also lead to Asherman syndrome. There are areas of thin membrane like structures in the uterus which prevent pregnancy from taking place.
