What Does "urinary Bladder Is Moderately Distended" Mean?

Hi, 36 years old, single, a stage 2 breast cancer survivor. Yesterday i had my whole abdomen ultrasound and it says that my urinary bladder is moderately distended. What does it mean and what are the causes? Is it alarming? I have an appointment with my doctor on Friday but i want to have knowledge about it so I would fully understand my condition. Thank you.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.Urinary bladder should be fully distended to evaluate the pelvic organs.
2.Full bladder means when you feel urgency to pass urine - but in your case when you had your scan you have been moderately filled bladder.
3.What happens in moderately filled bladder is all pelvic organs can not be assessed appropriately - like ovaries and uterus to full extent.
4.In this case some ask patients to drink water and see again after 20 - 30 minutes, some will perform scan all depending on the experience.
5.Its not at all a pathological feature in your report - its a normal condition of the bladder.

Good luck.
Hope i have answered your query,
