What Does Raised Bumps And Spots On The Lower Arms?
I recently had a numerous amount of raised bumps pop up on my lower arm after a tanning bed trip one day. They itched for a little bit but it stopped. It s been 4 days and they haven t gone away and I just realized one has either turned brown or a new mole has appeared.. Should I be concerned or is that normal?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
It is not normal to develop raised bumps and spots on your skin after using a tanning bed. The appearance of a new mole or a change in the color or size of an existing mole can also be a cause for concern, as these can be signs of skin cancer.
You may refer you to a dermatologist for further examination. The dermatologist may perform a skin biopsy to determine if the bumps are cancerous or not.
In the meantime, it is important to avoid any further exposure to tanning beds or direct sunlight and to protect your skin by wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen when you are outdoors. Early detection and treatment of skin cancer can greatly improve outcomes, so it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
