What Does Rashes In The Underarm After Taking Zithromax Indicate?

Hello I am a sailor at sea, HAD A COLD TWO WEEKS AGO I did take care with Theraflu now small coughing started after I get wet and my body cool down so quick I have Zithromax is this medicine has erythromycin in it? 25 years ago I had a little rashes in under arm area after I take erythromycin can I tolerate to Zithromax better? at least 250 mg. twice? Zithromax contains azithromycin that belongs to the group of antibiotic medications known as macrolides is used in the treatment of various bacterial Infections like respiratory tract Infections, urinary tract Infections, skin and soft tissue infections, eye, nose or ear infections and many more.

On the other hand, Erythromycin belongs to the group of antibiotic medications known as macrolides too. So, both Azithromycin and Erythromycin are derived from macrolides. As, you had a history of Erythromycin induced rashes in the underarm, so Zithromax also can cause drug induced rashes due to same class of antibiotics. So, before start taking Zithromax you should consult your doctor first for medical attention.
