Hello,
It is nice to know that your friend,
radiologist will help you after the CT is done. Please do it at the earliest so that treatment can be started at the earliest. Your symptoms are indicative of either
costochondritis or
intercostal neuralgia. Get clinically examined, get treated. Avoid physical strain from repeated exercise or sudden exertion, as it may trigger your pain. Presently, you are suggested to avoid all type of physical activities that are strenuous.
Take NSAIDS, Naproxan / Combiflam, one SOS for relief. Take it after food. Heat therapy and
massage therapy effectively reduce the discomfort. Intercostal neuralgia is caused by trauma, moving heavy furniture / weight lifting, difficult yoga postures, viral infection, eg. shingles, etc. The treatment will depend on the cause of intercostal neuralgia, you will be given conservative treatment or RFA, thermal
radiofrequency ablation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
