What Does Recurring Purple Mole Flare Up On Thigh Suggest?
I ve had this skin problem on my thigh which every few months fairs up as a bright purple looking mole about the size of a 5p with a red ring around the edge and dark brown uneven center. It s dissappears after a few days and looks like a small scar again. I ve been to the doctors but every time I get there, its gone down and they say it s just and insect bite but surely after about 2 years, said insect bite would have dissappeared. It s current flared up and is very painful to touch. Any advice?
Based on what you have described, it sounds like you may have an insect or tick based rash. This can cause pain, redness, swelling, and inflammation. Usually, it would need a biopsy or a blood test to confirm the reason.
In case empirical use of antibiotics is not helping, you may need to do a culture and sensitivity of the pus to confirm if there is any bacteria. Once this is confirmed, then you can get specific antibiotic and this can help to treat.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Vignan Rachabattuni
