What Does Regular Pulsating Left Brachial Artery Suggest?
Hello- I ve noticed that what appears to be my left brachial artery pulsating regularly for no reason. I m a 39y.o. athletic female (25% body fat) with a history of low blood pressure & low cholesterol. I had a SLAP repair in my left shoulder in 2011 but this pulsing only started about a month ago. It s not happening anywhere else in my body but it happens when I am at rest and is uncomfortable but not painful. I have recently undergone fertility treatments but I m not currently on any medications other than synthroid for hypothyroidism. If I need to get checked, what kind of doctor do I see? Cardiologist?
I do not think it to be abnormal most of the times. Some people have a slender constitution and have little sub-cutaneous tissue under the skin and therefore it can be felt easily. In some people, the radial artery is superficial and easily visible. In some cases, we actually see a vein from the basilic plexus that is located right above the artery, thus, it may appear to be pulsating due to its proximity to the artery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
