What Does Reticular Densities In The Para Cardiac Area Mean?
my 2 year old son had undergo x ray after the medication of his colds, fever and cough. impression was there are reticular densities in the right paracardiac area, Pneumonitis, right paracardiac area. Can you please tell me what does it mean? Thank You
Hi welcome to HCM. Reticular densities in the paracardiac area suggest active inflamed zones of lung infection caused pneumococcal bacteria. The location paracardiac implies the involvement of lung zones in border with the heart. These lesions are more evident of the right side of the heart.Timely use intravenous antibiotics like third generation cephalosporins will cause prompt resolution of lung densities.Periodical follow up with an x ray chest help to monitor these pathological changes.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you.
