What Does Severe Abdominal Pain While Suffering From Celiac Disease Indicate?

Was diagnosed with celiac disease last week. But today I have been having sharp and achy abdominal pain since 930. Feel like I have to puke or have a bowel movement but have not thrown up and little bowel movement that didn’t alleviate the pain. Pain radiates to the back like flank pain. Pain is on the right side and sometimes shifts throughout. Took my pulse and that was 84 bpm. Unable to eat or drink anything without pain and now starting to have chest pain

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Celiac disease is due to allergy to gluten in diet, which leads to inflammation of colons with non digestion & excessive gas formation in gut. The swollen gut starts giving pain. To manage avoiding gluten & having gluten free diet is the important step to start with. Advice of a dietician is needful. Accompanied management by digestive enzymes, vitamins along with routine exercises helps.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
