What Does Severe Menstrual Bleeding Along With Clots Indicate?

I have severe menstrual bleeding accompanied by clots, I noticed the clothes a few minutes ago had yellowish splotches is that normal? I have never noticed that before. Theses periods come every 2 to 6 months and can last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. I am 47 and have had periods like this for several years.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalance, fibroid, polyp, endometrial / cervix dysplasia, endometriosis, endometrium cancer.
I would suggests to consult the gynecologist and undergo vaginal examination, reproductive hormone analysis, USG scan, endometrial biopsy/PAP smear.
Specific treatment will depend on the cause
Progesterone pill/shot and tranexamic acid will help to reduce the amount of the bleeding.
Maintain proper pelvic hygiene
Drink plenty of water, eat healthy diet with iron supplements
Hope this may help you

Best regards
Dr. Sagar
