What Does Severe Pain And Weakness In The Right Shoulder Indicate?

I have had at times extreme pain in my right shoulder, weakness and the inability to lift my arm at times to even give patients their appt. car (I am an office manager for a dental office in San Diego) Also, unable to lift anything heavy at times even a grocery bag. I ve taken NSAID s. I went to a PT which seemed to only worsen the problem. (note: in November a PA said I have an impingement..knowing this without any x-rays) What are the signs/symptoms of a torn rotator cuff ? I m scheduled to see my surgeon next month and I am hoping for surgery.

Hello,

Most probably it will be a ligament or tendon involvement. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
