What Does Severe Pain In The Abdomen Indicate?

My 13 year old daughter who is a gymnast came home from practice and was laying on the floor. She called for me and said that she has a bad pain in her stomach. I looked on her abdomen and there was a large hard area and all the sudden it disappeared and her stomach pain disappeared also. Should I be concerned? I asked when her last BM was and it was that day. She is very regular, no problems.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

She may be suffering from pulled abdominal muscles due to overstretching lead to pain and bulging. Treated with rest is one of the most effective ways to treat a pulled abdominal muscle. Hold off on performing crunches, stabilization and twists until the pain dissipates and a doctor has cleared you for activity. Continuing to work out an injured muscle will prolong the discomfort and could worsen it. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
