What Does Severe Pain In The Hips Indicate?

I was supplosed to have a right hip replacement last October but came down with IgA bullous pemphgoid disorder. However, the pain in my hip is severe & radiates down the front of my leg involving my knee now. I want to know if it is ever possible for me to have this hip replaced. What is necessary? Do I have to have complete medical clearance??

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can get a fitness from a physician and can undergo surgery. Bullous pemphogoid is not an absolute contra indication for surgery. You are experiencing severe pain, may be because osteoporosis and decreased blood supply to the neck of the bone. Surgery is the best possible option. As of now you can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
