What Does Severe Pain In The Left Calf Indicate?

I have severe pain in my left calf. It radiates up the leg but is concentrated in the entire calf. It feels almost tingly, but very painful. Like it s being squeezed. Nothing provides relief...no icing or soaking or stretching. I have not had an injury. It happened suddenly. I cannot put weight on it. It effects my walking. So odd. It has been almost a week since the symptoms appeared.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there. I have read through your question and would like to tell you that pain in calf muscles can be due to many reasons like 1. Potassium and calcium deficiency. 2. Impaired blood supply to leg veins. 3. Varicose veins or deep vein thrombosis. 4. Nerve compression. I would suggest you to visit your physician for a proper physical examination to arrive at a proper diagnosis. You may be required to get a serum electrolyte level done. Also a Doppler imaging of veins or MRI spine depending upon the result of physical examination. Meanwhile you can take a painkiller like aceclofenac to relieve the pain. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
