Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
am a senior adult with a deteriorated disc at L4 & L5. The main problem is a pain that radiates down my leg, mainly the left, with excruciating pain at the ankle. My calf muscles knot up and the tendons in my foot both on top and on bottom bow up causing my toes to separate and hurt. It used to only do it at night but now it is most of the time. Is this a result of the deteriorated disc and would a steroid shot alleviate the pain? Thank you, Candy

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
Cause of your left sided leg pain with spasms of tendons and muscles of the leg and pain through outlet leg seems to be due to pressure or linking of the nerve supply to the affected part. The treatment comprises of specific drugs or steroid infection at the site surgery to relieve pressure. Choosing between the three is treating doctor 's jurisdiction. Whatever is most suitable. Please consult an orthopedic doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
