What Does Severe Pain In The Lower Abdomen Indicate?

After I eat anything I get a sharp stabbing pain in my lower stomach and it’s so painful I can move my legs or go about the things I do everyday, I can never find a way to stop it I just have to stop and wait it normally last for maybe 20 minutes to 2 hours

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There can be many reasons of lower abdominal pain, most common being a gastric or deudonal ulcer, pancreatitis, gastroesophageal reflux, and appendicitis. Pain that increases after taking food is common in deudonal ulcer and pancreatitis. In appendicitis, pain is commonly located in the right lower abdomen. I would advise you to consult a gastroenterologist and think about getting an ultrasound done. It is the only way a proper diagnosis can be made. Your further line of treatment whether medical or surgical will depend on your diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
 Dr. Nazma.amman
