What Does Severe Pain In The Ribs After Coughing Indicate?

My daughter is 27 years old and has had a cough for about a month. She recently has had severe pain in her right side. Last night she held her ribs why she was coughing and she felt and heard something pop and about took her breath away. She won t leave work and I m concerned what are your thoughts

Hello dear, thank you for using Healthcaremagic. I read your query and understand your concern. The chest pain she is having is a complication of cough. She has to stop cough to stop feeling chest pain. I would recommend you a cough suppressant such as dextromethorphan. I recommend using cough suppressants only at night. Try mentol drops as remedies for cough because they numb the troat. Also have tea and warm beverages. If she has secretions I would recommend pseudoephedrin and phenylephrine. Best regards.
