What Does Severe Pain In The Right Thigh Indicate?

I have been having unusually severe pain in my right thigh, right groin and right hip area and right lower back, the pain is excruciating. I went to the ER but they said it was probably muscle pain. Now I have a very small rash on my lower back where some of the pain is. I just noticed it. How do I know what is what?
