What Does Severe Pain In The Shoulder Blade Indicate?

At first I had terrible pain in my shoulder blade. Went to a chiropractor because he was close !!! He did 2 adjustments ! and took xrays which showed several bulging discs. The pain then started down my arm and I saw an MD. She thinks I have PTS and sent me for an emg which showed pinched nerve at #8 area. My hand curls in and my little finger tingles all the time. My hand and arm are VERY weak. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms are due to pinched nerve (aggravated by chiropractic manipulations). Solution comprises of rest/cold or hot pack/Anti-inflammatory drugs/local steroid injection/physiotherapy after pain subsides, and surgery in few cases. Please consult a spinal surgeon.

Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
