What Does Severe Pain In The Upper Arms Be Treated?

Hi I have terrible pain in both my upper arms about 5 inches below the shoulder. Pain is worse on the rights side but both sides generally hurt at the same time. I don t feel any numbness or tingling. But I notice that I can reduce or eliminate the pain if I reposition my neck. I ve had psoriatic arthritis since I was 35. I m now 67. I generally have pain in all my joints but this is the first time in the muscle in my upper arm. I ve had a rupture disk C^-C7 when I was 29. I had Lumbar (L1-2) surgery back in 2013.

Hello,

You might be having a frozen shoulder. Rotator cuff muscles of the shoulder are injured and inflamed so you may be having all this kind of symptoms. If there spasm or inflammation of the muscle your joint movement will be restricted. you can get anti-inflammatory agents like paracetamol, ibuprofen to subside the inflammation. analgesics like diclofenac, tramadol can also be used if the pain is more. A steroid shot would be much better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
