Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My fiancee is experiencing extreme pain in her left cheek/jaw area, and finding it increasingly difficult to open her mouth. The width she has been able to open her mouth has also deminished. I am taking her to the doctors office in the morning but I would appreciate a few possibilities. She believes it is her wisdom teeth, but I felt her gums, and didn t feel anything pressing against the flesh indicating any new teeth.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. It's more likely due to impacted wisdom tooth... when inflammed... it affects temperomandibular joint (that is responsible for jaw movements) Consult a dental surgeon. Till then dhe should not not foment externally. If possible go for hot saline gargles. Over the counter NSAID like combiflam would help to ease pain. Thanks.
