Hi and welcome to HCM.
I'm Dr. Taimur and I will be addressing your health issues.
I have read your question and understand your concern.
Pain in the
rib cage could be due to
1. heart
2. chest wall muscles and ribs
3.
referred pain of nerves in the chest wall
4.
pleura and lungs
To exclude different possibilities and to reach proper diagnosis you have to answer the following questions
1. How the pain started?
2. What are the aggravating factors and what are the relieving factors?
3. What is the association with breathing? Does it worsens with deep inspiration?
4. Do you have received any blow or trauma in the painful area in last few days?
5. Have you used any drugs for it and how was the response?
Meanwhile you can use simple analgesics like
paracetamol and
ibuprofen etc and see if it improves.
And if it stays and not relieved it's better to visit hospital and get an ECG done to exclude cardiac cause.
I hope it will be of some help and If you have any query please feel free to ask.
Thanks
