What Does Shaky Body And Inability To Chew Indicate?
Hi Doctor, My mother is not well for the last 8years, Doctors have not been able to diagnose her actual health problem. The problem is she cant walk without help, her joints dosen't have any pain. She says when she walk her whole body shakes like pendulum. She has problem in head region also. A white mucus kind of liquid come and deposit on her throat which makes difficult to talk, she cant talk properly, she cant chew but can swallow, Her lips dosen't touch each other which makes her teeth always visible. We have given her treatment almost everywhere which includes AIMS, Sree Chithra and many Ayurveda and Homeo medicines no difference at all. What kind of disease is this? Is it curable? She is 62 years of age. Please reply.
Hello there, With the symptoms that you indicated problems with walking, inability to chew and problems with coordination her disease most likely is of neurological origin. She would need to be examined by a neurologist and get appropriate scans done. Depending on her results her treatment plan can be made. If you can afford it taking her to NIMHANS in Bangalore would be the best plan of action or CMC vellore. Both of them have very good neurological departments.
Hope this helps, Dr Arun A
