Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had several feelings like a sharp electric shock last nite while in bed for the nite. And the next day had about 6 more slight shocks which then stopped until tonite about 10:30pm had 2 more small shocks while sitting watching TV. These shocks were all in the same place -- close to the left armpit at the front of the chest. We actually saw a doctor today (a routine visit) & they were mystified - did not feel it was a heart attack warning. What is your opinion? He has severe spinal stenosis of the lower back w/4 surgeries, but never had any problems higher up in the back. He is 89 years of age & in otherwise good health.
Your husband is experienced sharp electric shocks in the left arm, armpit and front of the left chest. Muscle twitching in arm occurs normally as a result of rigorous exercise routine. Vitamin B deficiency also causes involuntary muscle movement. Neurological disorders such as cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis may also present with similar symptoms. Anxiety and myopathy may cause muscle twitching's as the muscles are weakened.
Persistent or frequent bouts of muscle twitches accompanied by muscle cramps may suggest neurological problems. Your husband is suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get lipid function tests and routine cardiac tests done to rule out any developing CAD, coronary artery disease. Your husband may be referred to a Neurologist to detect neurological problems get NVC test, EEG, etc done. He will be treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
