What Does Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen And Lower Back Indicate?

hello my name is Edda let me tell u a little about myself first. I am a 41 yr. old who smokes about a half a pack of cigarettes a day. I ve have 10 pregnancies the second being a abortion, the first 5 with natural deliveries the remaining all C-sections,the sixth was a multiply(twins) birth. none with complications before during or after. I have sharp pain in my lower torso, lower back region feels like I get during pregnancy or pms-ing and the abdominal region are similar to menstrual cramping both are more severe, sometimes the pain shoots up my spine to the back of my head causing a headache and shoulders seem heavier. This started right before my last menstrual cycle about 2 weeks ago and hasn t gone away. I thought maybe it could constipation so I took a laxative 2 days ago and didn t ease the pain much. and it hurts most when i am laying down. I have a lot of gas causing burping and passing gas more often. I haven t done any strenuous activities to cause any harm to my body my period was normal. what can be the causes of my symptom s. I am not the type of person that complains about pain it has to unbearable to seek help from a doc or over-the-counter remedies.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Renal stones should be excluded. You need an abdominal ultrasound to confirm/rule it out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
