Hello, I have a very sharp and constant pain my throat and chest. I think I burnt the throat or esophagus badly. I just took dexilant and have an appt with gastrointerologist on monday. I m wondering if other people have this kind of pain and how should I treat it? It s a constant, sharp cutting pain. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

By your explanation, it looks like chronic gastritis, as the regurgitated acid in long term will cause an inflammatory reaction, which leads to constant sharp pain in the throat. Another thing in the upper GI structure may also be referred pain, so needed a thorough examination and tests like upper GI endoscopy, CBC and all please consult the nearest doctor for you and get examined.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manjunath J V
