What Does Sharp Pain On The Upper Back And Shoulder Indicate?

I have extreme sudden sharp pain in right upper back around shoulder blade. it is intermittent, not caused by any specific movement. Six months ago I had similar pain but more generalized to upper back. I was then diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. I have been on warfarin since that time. Could these symptoms be indicative of another embolism?

hello,
i can understand your concern.
in pulmonary embolism, along with pain, isually breathlessness also accompany.
have you been monitoring your INR for warfarrin. this is essential as an inr of between 2 to 3 is essential.
however since you have a positive history of p.e, i would suggest an pulmonary ct angiogram and a d dimer test right to confirm or rule out pulmonary embolism.

hope, i have answered your query.
wish you a speedy recovery
