What Does Shortness Of Breath After An Angioplasty Indicate?
Hi, I am 37 years male. Had an angiography two and half years back and found to have 90 % blockage in LCX at distal segment. Still haven t done angioplasty. Having Bisoprolol 5/6.25,Aspirin+Clopidogrel, Vestarel MR and Rosuvatatin. I don t feel any pain even after brisk walking 4 miles @ one hour. But I feel shortness of breath. My cholesterol level is normal. Lifestyle is not that healthy which should be. I only go for walking once or twice a week. I am 20 kg over weighed. I occasionally eat red meat in a considerable amount. I do ETT every six months.According to my cardiologist last ETT report was more or less same neither improve nor deteriorated. I have history of heart disease in my family. My father died from a massive heart attack at the age of 49. Under the above circumstances what should I do?My doctor is advising me to modify lifestyle rather angioplasty. What is the possibility of having a serious heart attack under the present status of my health. Eagerly waiting for your response. Regards Sunny
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I have gone through the detailed history you have given. You should definitely undergo angioplasty. There is no alternative to angioplasty. Lifestyle modifications are needed in your case but with angioplasty only. You are overweight, having documented blockage in LCX and have strong family history of heart attack. So you are at extremely high risk of heart diseases like heart attack. So better to immediately consult Cardiologist and work out angioplasty as early as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
