What Does Single Loose Loop Of Cord Overlying Dorsum Of Neck Mean?
Hi, my wife is 28 weeks pregnant and the ultrasound report states that "single loose loop of cord overlying dorsum of neck". I am a bit worried with this note, can you please help explain the significance of this note and what exactly we need to do. Our first child was a normal delivery. thanks.

Hello
Single loose loop of cord overlying dorsum of neck means there is single loop of umbilical cord wrapped around fetal neck and it is loose.
This is a common situation found in pregnancy.
Since cord is loose and your wife has early pregnancy,there are chance of unwinding of cord from fetal neck.
Even if condition persists,there is no need to be panicky.It can be unwinded during delivery,C-section can be done if needed.
Normal delivery is possible even with cord around neck.
