What Does Slight Hyperkeratosis With Superficial Perivascular Dermatitis Mean?

My dad recently received results from the VA and we are confused about what his condition is. All the letter says is: The results on the biopsy on the lesion excised from your right shoulder showed that it was a slight hyperkeratosis with superficial perivascular dermatitis. There were no other words other than that his primary care will be notified and he hasn t heard anything since this letter came on 10/29/15. Is this something we should be concerned about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is just a proliferation of normal skin or otherwise thickening of superficial part of the skin. There is no features or cancerous change and so nothing much to worry about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family physician
