General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Slurred speech is common at end stage of life due to hemorrhages in the brain, cognitive disability. The only thing that has to be done at this stage of life is palliative care. Palliative care includes- pain relief, emotional support, more and more interaction with the patient and just be there with him. At this stage there will be less blood circulation to the brain and hypoxia, ie less oxygen supply to the brain which results in excessive sleepiness. Give maximum time to your father and comfort him.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
