What Does Small Bands Of Atelectasis Versus Fibrosis In The Lower Left Lung Base Mean?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...hello recently i was in the hospital and on the med papers i got on release said i have ( small bands of atelectasis versus fibrosis in the lower left lung base. can you tell me what that is please?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Atelectesis is partial collapse of part of lung. Fibrosis is healed scars. So if you had lung infection in the past then possibility of fibrosis is more. But if you are having fever, cough, expectoration etc then possibility of atelectesis is more. Best way to clear the doubt is HRCT (high resolution CT) thorax. So get done HRCT thorax. If it shows atelectesis then chest physiotherapy and mucolytic, expectorant drugs are needed. If it shows fibrosis then nothing should be done because fibrosis is healed Scar lesion. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
