Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 69 and have recently started sneezing after eating. I have been told that this is senior rhinitis. However I am also experiencing strong generally acrid smells that others don t experience. What might these symptoms portend and do I need to see some specialist to evaluate?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sneezing after eating which is due to allergic reaction and foreign body infestation in nose. I would suggest you to consult an allergist and get evaluated and he may advise you allergic testing like Patch test, Prick test, RAST test, food challenge test along with nasal endoscopy . Doctor may advice anti allergics, decongestant and steam inhalation along with Immunotherapy that will help in reducing severity and frequency of allergic reaction. Once the exact cause of allergic reaction is ruled out preventing exposure to allergen will help in prevention of allergic attack.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
