General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There is no medical term soft uterus so you may need to speak to him or her to find out exactly what he/her was referring to.

Causes of irregular or delayed period include: (1) polycystic ovarian syndrome- in this condition, cysts may be seen by the ovaries and there may also be abnormal levels of certain hormones

(2)thyroid disease- abnormal levels of thyroid hormones can affect the period

(3)high levels of a hormone called prolactin

(4)emotional or physical stress or illness

(5)inadequate diet

(6)side effect of medication

Blood tests and imaging of the uterus and ovaries can determine if any of these are present.

Treatment would depend on the cause found.

I hope this helps
