What Does Sore Roof Of Mouth With Clusters Of Red Dots Suggest?

so I wore my retainers again for the first time in a month last night and after I woke up, the roof of my mouth felt sore. I took a look at it and found many small red dots clustered on the left side of my mouth. there are single red dots in other areas but the left has it worse.

As per your query when you wear newly made retainers with an acrylic plate (the plate that holds the wire and covers the roof of mouth when placed in mouth) it is a common finding to have soreness due to it as it takes time to adjust with it and when a new hard material comes in contact with soft tissues it causes some level of inflammation which causes soreness..

It is seen in initial two to three weeks of wearing.

If the soreness turns into pain or there is formation of ulcers on the roof of mouth there may be some pointed areas over the acrylic plate on the inner side leading to trauma to the mucosa over palate..
In this condition you need to consult your dentist and get evaluated for the proper fit and and presence of any sharp areas on it.

If any sharp areas are present dentist will smoothen them so that no more injury is caused.

Other thing is to use some anaesthetic gel like mucopain gel to get relieved of pain and discomfort..
