What Does Soreness Around The Torso Indicate?

I have an area of skin running around my torso from stomach to spine on the left side that is very sore to the touch. It feels raw, like a carpet burn, but there are no outward signs. No rash, no bruise, no discoloration. I have no allergies. I have not changed soaps, detergents, deodorants. It is painful. Any ideas on what this could be and should I seek medical treatment?

Please go to dermatologist. It may be lichen planus, which looks silvery sky color in appearance or it may be psoriasis, get them checked.
