Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Soreness on top of soft palate, top of soft palate seems lumpy and really warm when I touch my tongue to it (yes I can do that), sometimes when I eat nuts pieces of them get stuck on top of my soft palate and make it more sore. Also the back of my tongue gets yellow randomly. I also constantly have to clear my throat because there keeps being something in it. Probably unrelated: I also have dandruff that sticks to my scalp and scabbing on my scalp. Whenever I scratch my scalp huge amounts of dandruff stuck together get under my fingers (they don t even look like flakes when I do that). The dandruff never falls out on it s own.
So, my suggestion is to consult an Emergency room or an ENT Physician and get a clinical examination and a throat swab culture done. It will help in ruling out the cause.
In case if there is infection, then a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and mucolytic can be advised to relieve the phlegm formation. For now, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and antiseptic mouthwash gargles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
