Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have soreness just under my jaw bone where a small knot seems to be sore. I have been recovering from a bad cold with no fever just conjestion and cough has been the main symptom no big deal. Two days ago I noticed soreness. With a little swollen area under my jawbone Worry or not?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of soreness under jaw which seems to be due to TMJ problem leading to suctioning, Eustachian tube dysfunction, obstruction in the salivary gland, cervical spondylosis and systemic condition. I would suggest you to drink green tea with ginger thrice a day. Apply dry warm compresses on jaw and neck. You should take oral broad spectrum antibiotics to treat the infection. Put anti-inflammatory ear drops. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Chew on sugar free gums which can stimulate saliva flow and the stones or obstructing foreign body can flush out the stones along with the saliva flow.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
